Our Future Together (Conference)

Three people from NCBI Lancashire Pomocna Dlon attended the conference “Our Future Together” in Manchester organised by the Federation of Poles in the UK. Amongst those attending were representatives of the Polish Consulates in Great Britain, trade unions and dozens of Polish and English organizations.

The whole event was coordinated by the Federation’s General Secretary Małgorzata Sztuka. The conference was held in a number of thematic panels, covering the areas concerning the integration of Poles living abroad, promotion of Polish culture and business as well as sources of financing projects.

One of the highlight for Shona Legaspi was to ‘see the strong unions present, actively promoting and protecting migrant working rights’. It was an excellent opportunity for an exchange of views and experiences as well as for networking. Monika Figol said: ‘I was nicely surprised to see so many active leaders who are working on the same theme. It gave me a hope for our future work’. During the conference you could also find out more about history of Polish migration to the UK, a need to promote a ‘Polish’ brand, integration with the host community and a role of UK allies.
